Aston Motes was the first engineer at Dropbox, where he worked on a wide variety of products, from the Dropbox.com website to the API thousands of 3rd-party developers use today. Since leaving Dropbox, he’s shifted focus to the music industry and has helped build most notably Merchbar, an app featured multiple times by Apple, where you can buy amazing merch from your favorite artists any time, any place. In addition to business pursuits, Aston has continually given back to the community as a mentor to students at every career stage through organizations like Black Girls Code, Mission Bit, Code2040, DevBootcamp, Girls Who Code and CodeNow. And he’s a startup advisor as well, mentoring other entrepreneurs directly as well as through organizations like NewMe and Black Founders. Aston also sits on the board of Fast Forward, a new tech non-profit startup that accelerates tech non-profit startups.
